Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig on September 21, 1983. Maggie Grace is an American actress best known for her role as Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Originating from Worthington Ohio, she quit high school and moved in Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite difficulties with money it was possible to land her first major part in the web-based video series Rachel's Room playing the principal character. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder which aired in Greenwich. Grace Rutherford, a role she played in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was dropped from the series in 2005 to pursue an even more prominent role in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She has appeared as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 as well as in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The actress reprised her character as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version to the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role in Lost for two more episodes, which included the series final. In 2013, Grace appears in the episode Californianation of the 6th season. She plays Faith she is an admirer and muse to the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family she is the daughter and elder sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her early teens She appeared in small roles in the films of her father and she co-starred alongside her brother in Donnie Darko, a cult classic. Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in the romantic erotic comedy Secretary (2002) as well as the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her the Golden Globe Award nomination. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following many highly successful movies, such as World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. Following her acclaimed performance as a mother who is not married on the screen in Crazy Heart (2009), she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She then played in comedies and dramas which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 The other roles she played were the role of a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) as well as the title role in the drama The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal's debut as a director and writer came in 2021 when she wrote The Lost Daughter, a psychological thriller that won her the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. The film also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
